The Fan District Association

The FDA Has a Tradition of Opening Our Festively Decorated Fan Homes to the Public for Over 50 Years!

Saturday, Dec. 9th & Sunday, 10th

12:00 - 5:00 p.m.

The annual Holiday House Tour is a Fan favorite and the Fan District Association’s primary fund raising event. Proceeds from this magical event fund neighborhood improvement projects and community services for Fan residents all year long.

About

The annual Holiday House Tour is held Saturday and Sunday the second weekend in December.  Proceeds support and enable the FDA to carry out its mission and enhance the neighborhood through school projects, tree planting, park and alley refurbishments, neighborhood concerts and collaboration with the City of Richmond Police and VCU.

The Committee

It requires hundreds of volunteers and planning begins in the spring of each year. To have a tour, we first need people to volunteer their homes to present on tour. The Steering Committee consists of volunteers who chair the various subcommittees that make the tour happen. These subcommittees include:

  • Ticket sales – work with various businesses who serve as ticket outlets
  • Hospitality – provides refreshments on the days of the tour at designated hospitality centers
  • Logistics – coordinates the trolley route, provides homeowners with flags, and other necessary items
  • Volunteers – these Chairs recruit House Captains and docents to work in the homes on both days of the tour
  • Sponsorship – obtains funding through sponsorship by local businesses and individuals
If you have an interest in serving on any of these subcommittees and would like to volunteer in any capacity, please contact the Holiday House Tour Chairs.  It’s a lot of fun and great way to meet your neighbors in the Fan.

Contact

Heather and her husband, David, moved to the Fan from Boston as renters in 2008 when their daughters were attending Virginia colleges. After 6 months, they knew they loved the Fan and found a permanent home on Grove Ave. Working at the gorgeous Ruth & Ollie store in Carytown allows Heather to indulge her passion for interior design. Co-chairing and Chairing the FDA Holiday House Tour the past three years has influenced Heather to learn and do more for the neighborhood. As a Board member she continues to find new ways to reach people who still don’t know about the FDA and all the wonderful things it does in this great neighborhood.
