Fan Village
The Fan Village Committee was formed in 2010 to consider the issue of “aging in place” in the Fan. The committee has been examining formal programs (called “villages”) that assist senior residents who wish to remain in their homes as they grow older. The Committee has been investigating whether Fan residents are interested in such a program, what form it would take, and the economic feasibility of a Village for the Fan area.
A pilot program with a small menu of services will begin in Spring 2012. About 40 FDA members have offered to be Fan Village volunteers. They will provide free assistance to our older residents and as well as to those who may be temporarily disabled due to illness or injury. The Fan Village program may be expanded in the future based on interest and demand.
The Fan Village Committee currently has about 12 members and usually meets on the third Thursday of each month.
