VCU's 40th Anniversary Celebration in Monroe Park "Monroe Park Festival"

1968 marked an important turning point in the histories of the Medical College of Virginia and the Richmond Professional Institute as they merged to become Virginia Commonwealth University. This year, VCU is celebrating VCU's 40th anniversary and the important milestones that have helped shape who they are today, and their vision for tomorrow.

The new Super Can Ordinance when into affective March 3rd, 2008

If you leave your super can or recycle bin in the public right of way (on the sidewalk and in the alley) you may be fined up to $50 per day! So please move your super can and recycle bin to private property after trash collection.

This is the neighborly thing to do!

 

 


Students are returning to the Fan - and so are the roll-offs!

The Fan District Association in cooperation with the City of Richmond, Department of Public Works will again place roll-off dumpster's at the following location from July 25 to September 2
The roll-off dumpster's are for both residents and the move-in activity in rental properties around the Fan, no commercial dumping is allowed.

The Richmond Public Library Bi-Annual Book Sale
sponsored by Friends of the Richmond Public Library

Two big events coming up:
The first,
is the Drive-Thru Book Drive to be held on Saturday, Sept. 27.   The friends, will be collecting gently used books, CDs, DVDs, albums, and tapes.   It's a great time to clear out the shelves and donate to a good cause.   they will be set up on the loading dock behind the library to make it easy to drop and go.

The second,
is the Big Book Sale is Nov. 7, 8, and 10.   This is a terrific community event offering items of interest to all age groups.   We have everything from baby board books to rare limited editions.   The prices are unbelievable and all proceeds benefit the Richmond Public Library programs and collections.

FDA Community Grants Program & Process

The Fan District Association expects to have a limited amount of funds available each year to support civic associations, schools, garden clubs, and non profit foundations whose activities benefit the residents and neighborhoods encompassed by the FDA. In recent years we have provided grants for tree planting, to purchase permanent refuse containers, for street signage, to renovate the fountain in Monroe Park, and to enhance public school programs.

Applications can be submitted at any time during the year using this form. Questions prior to submission of an application should be directed to , of the FDA Grants Committee Chairman.
