Trees, Urban Forestry, Gardening
The Fan is not just buildings; the streets are lined with trees which create a kind of forest in the city. This section of the Fan District Association website is a place for information on being a gardener and good steward of trees in the neighborhood.
Adopt a Tree Program
The FDA signup to adopt a tree, which provides a tree at half the city’s price, is found here. Note that the Fan District Association works in collaboration with the city on the Adopt-a-Tree program, and prepares a batch of checks during the August / September time period.
For the city’s Urban Forestry information including the general Adopt-a-Tree program, check here.
There is an organization known as the Richmond Tree Stewards, they provide advice and hands-on help with trees. Their blog may be found here.
