For many services requiring City response such as pothole repairs, overgrown lots, non-functioning street/traffic lights, or trash/bulk pick-ups, the best way to get a quick response is to dial 311 and report the violation or visit the website.
RECYCLING
For directions on alley recycling pickup, check the Richmond Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) recycling website.
REMOVING GRAFFITI
If graffiti is on your property and visible from a public right-of-way, such as street, sidewalk, or alley, the city has the authority to remove the graffiti. Please report all Graffiti through RVA311. DPW will investigate and determine proper course of action. In order to investigate graffiti on private property, the property owner will be required to fill out the Consent to Enter and Release of Liability Agreement form, sign, and mail to:
City of Richmond
Department of Public Works
900 E. Broad St., Room 704
Richmond, VA 23219
Due to limitations and or the nature of the graffiti, DPW reserves the right to refuse the removal of graffiti on private property. The way the city will remove the graffiti will depend on the surface and type of material used. Painted surfaces may require repainting and the homeowner may need to supply the city with the paint. Unpainted surfaces like brick or concrete walls may be blasted with high pressure water/sand or water/baking soda.
