In addition to learning about the FDA’s accomplishments over the past year, we will vote on board members.
I am excited to introduce this year's slate of candidates, in alphabetical order:
Mike Glomb Mike Glomb is an attorney with over thirty years experience advising nonprofit organizations and associations on tax exemption and governance matters. Mike, his wife Susannah, and their dog Nelson, have resided in the Fan since 2019. As FDA members, they have participated in three Holiday House Tours both as docents and as hosts. Mike believes that a strong neighborhood association is essential to maintaining, and improving the features of the Fan that residents cherish, and looks forward to working with FDA colleagues, and other Fan neighbors, to that end.

Sam Parker Sam Parker and his partner Jennifer have enjoyed living in the Fan for 4 years, following 20 years on a cul-de-sac in the suburbs. For 24 years, he led a leadership development and employee engagement company he cofounded in 1998. The company developed and marketed content used by thousands of leaders and organizations across the county and internationally. He looks forward to applying that experience to growing the FDA’s membership. For the last 4 years, he has worked as a keynote speaker and served on the board of a Richmond-based community action agency working to replace poverty with stability and hope. If you’ve not met him walking around the Fan with his dog, Vinnie, he looks forward to meeting you soon.

At its meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026, the FDA Board voted to sponsor and support the Monument Avenue Easter on Parade for $5,000. This support will help keep this special annual tradition alive.
Come to Monument Avenue on April 5 from 1-5 p.m. to see easter displays, amazing hats (even pets in hats!), entertainment, food and more.
It's an afternoon of free fun for the whole family and we hope you'll join us. Easter on Parade is organized by Historic Monument Avenue.
The strength of our organization rests in the contributions of the community. We are planning for our next year and we're looking for a few good folks! Coming this spring, we will have several positions opening on our Board of Directors, with service terms beginning in May.
We immediately have needs for members of committees that will serve in specific areas to help our neighborhood thrive.
See our openings and opportunities below. If you have interest in any of these positions, or know somone who may be a good fit, please email President@fandistrict.org and we will give you more details and get you connected.
As a board member, you are responsible for Committee oversight and leadership plus overall strategic direction for the FDA. There are three board opportunities. We are seeking interested community members to serve as board members representing these committees:
Membership: Oversees membership growth and welcoming new Fan residents. Coordinates with Zone Captains for block events.
Program and Events: Directs the planning and execution of community programs and events throughout the year, previous events include National Night Out, Fan Night at the Diamond. Coordinates and plans the Annual Meeting. Partners with Fan Arts Stroll and Holiday House Tour event organizers
Treasurer: Provides financial oversight to the organization, working closely with our hired accountant and tax preparer. This role focuses on governance and reporting, not day-to-day bookkeeping.
Board members are expected to attend our monthly board meetings, which occur on the third Monday of each month from 7-9 p.m. A board term is three years.
Board positions are elected by our membership at our annual meeting in May and will begin service thereafter.
These roles are focused on specific projects and initiatives that directly benefit our neighborhood.
Holiday House Tour Committee
The Holiday House Tour is our biggest annual fundraiser and community event that raises money for our grant program. We need:
Parking Committee (Newly forming)
Parking is always a hot topic here in the Fan, and we need your help to think about proactive solutions. We need three members to help focus on neighborhood parking issues and potential solutions.
Parks and Trees Committee
We need three members to help organize park clean-up events and improvement projects.
